Compare 1 Timothy 2: They believe the Watchtower contains Gods truth, directed by Holy Spirit. Without it one cannot understand the Bible. They claim to be Christian but the vast majority reject Christ Blood and flesh and they do this in a ritualistic fashion every memorial of Christ death by passing the bread and wine among themselves and not eating it. Even the speaker must touch the plate or the cup and reject it for all to see. They use the name Jehovah over Yahweh but will agree Yahweh is more accurate. Compare Jude 22 7. Nelson Manela’s family Evelyn Mase, Mandela’s first wife and mother of 4 of Mandela’s children, converted to being a Jehovah’s Witness after their divorce in After the service, the president sincerely thanked the speaker. I think it amplified my own alienness. I believe it made me see the world differently. His family didn’t celebrate birthdays or Christmas, and his education was miserable. Doctors described the harrowing effect on staff at the Royal Hospital for Women and Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick of what some felt were two otherwise avoidable deaths, after the woman refused the transfusion when she developed complications nearly seven months into her pregnancy and was discovered to be suffering from leukaemia. More than 80 per cent of pregnant women suffering from the cancer, called acute promyelocytic leukaemia, will go into remission with proper treatment, and the outlook for their babies is good.

But the year old’s religion forbade her from accepting the blood transfusion she needed to save her life and that of her unborn baby. Ethicists and doctors say they are facing increasingly difficult decisions as the number of potentially life-saving treatments that can be done in utero grows. At the same time, debate has raged over NSW MP Fred Nile’s push to introduce laws making it a crime to seriously harm or kill a fetus in utero.

Haematologist Giselle Kidson-Gerber said her experience treating cancer patients and her Christian faith had helped her understand the woman’s choice, but it was difficult knowing that choice would affect the unborn child. Advertisement The woman’s obstetricians, who in Australia would otherwise “rarely see people die, or make a decision that will hasten death” were unable to perform a caesarean. The obstetricians weren’t comfortable with that when there was a chance we could have got her through,” she said.

But the baby died, and shortly afterwards the woman suffered a stroke and multi-organ failure, Dr Kidson-Gerber and her colleague Dr Amber Biscoe wrote in an account of the case published in the Internal Medicine Journal. Circumstances where fetal and maternal autonomy conflict, or where fetal beneficence conflicts with maternal autonomy, create challenges.

In December, Fairfax Media revealed the case of a Sydney couple who wished to terminate a pregnancy after discovering the fetus had a physical abnormality. Sascha Callaghan, an expert in ethics and law at the University of Sydney, said the law as it stands allowed the mother to make decisions that would affect the fetus, even if it probably would have been able to survive outside her body. We are all entitled to die with dignity,” she said.

She was born in Australia after being adopted, where she was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. But it prompted only one letter from an existing Witness, a year-old from Vancouver, called Ryan. He had broken the rules by even listening to a podcast of her show. But Ryan was prepared to risk it because, as he told Frances-White during a subsequent four-hour transatlantic chat on Skype, he felt so disillusioned and trapped.

Why Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Observe the Lord’s Supper Differently From the Way Other Religions Do? Also called the Last Supper or the Memorial of Christ’s Death, it is the most sacred event for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

For Jehovah’s Witnesses, an insular culture and archaic rules have created a “recipe for child abuse. A second was all he needed. The little girl was 4, round-faced and freckled and dressed in her Sunday best. She was fidgeting next to her father inside the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Red Lion, York County — a safe, familiar space for a family that spent nearly all of its free time preaching and praying.

Martin Haugh was momentarily preoccupied, doling out assignments to his fellow Witnesses for their door-to-door ministry work. When he looked down for his daughter, she was gone.

When a person or ideology or group is what we call “feedback proof,” meaning that no one or nothing external to the authority in the group can change things then it is authoritarian. We also define authoritarian as any person or ideology that assumes they know what’s best for others. Under these definitions, many of the social structures of the world are authoritarian.

The very nature of being unchallengeable and of wanting an authority to tell you what is right for you, or what to do, is a deep part of how the world works. In a static world, where change is either slow or not valued at all, as it has been throughout much of human history, authoritarianism although it has caused human suffering has also been the fast way to get things done. However, we now live in a world of accelerated change.

It is our thesis that in order to properly problem solve in a time of accelerated change it is essential to be sensistive and take into account the nature of the changes that are taking place around you. Authoritarianism by its nature and structure is a filtering device that keeps new information out because it is predicated on maintaining the power that has come through tradition. It is our point that as a species we no longer have the luxury to do that.

So I would say authoritarianism itself as a mode of information transference is essentially unhealthy for these times. People tend to think of cults as an information problem, a doctrinal problem. They are missing the point:

Sitting in the Kingdom Hall as a young child, I would hear talks about sex, but they were, for the most part, warnings about what not to do—what was moral and what was not— but mostly not. Masturbation was wrong, mutual masturbation was wrong, and both oral and anal sex were wrong. So I promised myself that as soon I found out what the heck they were, I would never do them. As I grew up, I came to understand what sex is really all about, according to Watchtower teachings.

I also heard from the platform and from people at the Hall how it was not good for a man to be alone; that he needed a wife to satisfy his sexual needs. I divorced my husband for spousal abuse at the age of twenty-two. All I knew was that men wanted and needed sex. In my late twenties I started rebuilding my life. I had a severe drinking problem by this time, and needed to sober up.

In doing so, I learned about being human. I will never forget one conversation I had over coffee with a group of people while we were talking about my view of relationships.

They were guilty of false prophesying. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record.

Most people who claim to be Christians in this postmodern generation say they follow Christ. However, their world views and beliefs display that the Christ that they claim to believe in, is not the Jesus Christ that the Bible defines.

Lou Everett was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 14 years. During that time, he served as a full-time minister as well as other major roles within the congregation. Lou’s journey to the Catholic Church was truly a rough road traveled. From Jehovah’s Witnesses to Catholicism: My Journey In , I find myself inside a Catholic church for midnight mass. My future wife, born and raised in the Catholic Church, by my side; silently showing me something that I never thought I’d see or feel.

At the age of 31, a realization set in that I never would have expected to occur — thus begins another part of my journey to the Church, my home. Peering back into my childhood, I realize that my journey actually began as a child. My father was in the military so our family traveled around quite a bit. His mentally unstable JW ex-wife tried to get him DFed and sent out the elders to pursue him but they were unsuccessful. I know this man personally and can say he is a friendly, caring, generous person.

So anyway, here is how he is getting along in his own words: I reached that point at age 44 over 10 years ago after having been born and raised in the JW cult for 44 years. It had nothing to do with being kind, good as a person, or helping brother or sister older ones giving food, care in their homes, or rides to the store. So think about it: How else can you explain men being appointed as elders who continue as such for years as they perform WT functions well at the kingdom hall, yet they may have beat their wives, children, molested children, or otherwise have been really scumbags in their personalities- yet got away with it for years?

There IS no such thing [in the WT organization]. And who knows if that has ever happened? We are special based on having humanity and what we bring to the table in sharing peaceful relations with others based on sharing our love, life, freedom of thoughts and expressions in order to afford other people the freedom to have their thoughts and expressions.
